Open Weather Station troubleshootingPlugin Not Appearing in DAW
If your plugin doesn't show up after installation, verify the install location and rescan from your DAW.
Verify installation paths
- VST3:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/(macOS) - VST3:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\(Windows Barometer) - AU:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/(macOS only) - AAX:
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/(Pro Tools) - CLAP:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP/(hosts with CLAP support)
Rescan plugins in your DAW
Logic Pro (AU only)
Logic scans automatically on launch. If the plugin does not appear, go to Logic Pro, then Settings, then Plug-in Manager, then Reset & Rescan. If Logic shows a validation error, open Terminal and run auval -v aufx BWxx BWst to check. Contact support with the output.
Ableton Live (VST3 or AU)
Go to Preferences, then Plug-Ins, then enable VST3 or AU. Click Rescan.
Pro Tools (AAX only)
Restart Pro Tools. It scans for new AAX plugins on launch. For issues, verify the plugin exists in /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/.
Cubase / Nuendo (VST3)
Go to Studio, then Studio Setup, then VST Plug-in Manager, then click Rescan All.
Reaper (VST3, AU, or CLAP)
Go to Options, then Preferences, then Plug-Ins, then VST, then click Re-scan. Reaper also discovers CLAP plugins from the standard CLAP directory automatically.
FL Studio (VST3)
Go to Options, then Manage plugins, then click Start scan.
Studio One (VST3 or AU)
Go to Studio One, then Options, then Locations, then VST Plug-Ins. Click Reset Blacklist, then Rescan.
Bitwig (VST3 or CLAP)
Go to Settings, then Plug-Ins, then click Rescan. Bitwig also scans the standard CLAP folder.
If the rescan fails
Save the exact scanning error and contact support with your DAW version, operating system, plugin version, and format. Do not delete plugin or cache files as a first step.
Restart your DAW after installing new plugins.
Lost License / Need to Restore
Sign in to Weather Station with your purchasing account. Open Account and check Your Licenses. If a product is missing, confirm the account and choose Refresh Licenses. Choose Manage beside a product to review its activated machines. If the installed plugin still asks for activation, contact support with its exact message.
- If you don't have Weather Station, download it from the downloads page
- Your license keys are always available on your account page
Gatekeeper Warning / Unidentified Developer
If your operating system blocks the app or installer, stop and check that it came from the official Bellweather Studios Downloads page. Download a fresh copy for your operating system and processor. Do not disable security protection or bypass a malware warning. If the fresh copy is still blocked, contact support with the exact warning and your operating-system version.
- If you see this warning, the file may have been modified or downloaded from an untrusted source
- Re-download from the official website or through Weather Station
Plugin Loads But No Audio
If the plugin opens but you hear no audio output, check the following:
- Check your DAW's routing (input/output assignment)
- If the plugin displays a license or trial-expiry error, note the exact message and check your license in Weather Station. A trial label alone does not establish why audio is missing.
- Verify your audio interface is selected in DAW preferences
- Check that the plugin is inserted on the correct track
Can't Activate License
Having trouble activating your license key? Try these steps:
- Check that you're entering the correct license key (available at bellweatherstudios.com/account)
- Each license allows up to 3 machines. If all slots are used, deactivate one at bellweatherstudios.com/account
- Connect to the internet when signing in, refreshing licenses, or activating a new machine. If an already-activated plugin stops working offline, contact support with the exact message before resetting any local license data.
Seeing Duplicate Plugins
If you see duplicate entries for a Bellweather plugin in your DAW, this usually means an older version was not fully removed before updating.
- Weather Station automatically overwrites older versions when installing updates. If duplicates persist, try uninstalling via Weather Station and reinstalling.
- Some DAWs show both VST3 and AU versions of the same plugin. This is normal - use whichever format your DAW prefers.
- Check for stale copies in the plugin directories:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3//Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components//Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins//Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP/
- After removing duplicates, force a plugin rescan in your DAW (see “Plugin Not Appearing in DAW” above for DAW-specific instructions).
- If duplicates remain, send support the format and location of each copy before removing anything else. Different formats may be used by different saved projects.
